I'm packing away my computer and moving this week
so there probably won't be any posts for me for a while.
But here's a song to cry over until I'm back

Sunday 6 December 2009

In tiny crevices and under dusty beds, there lies a secret creativity by the unknowns of society. Unexpected, delicate and profound, this democratic work has inspired the world’s greatest artists. In Exhibition #1, the museum presents over two hundred drawings, paintings, sculptures and installations, selected by leading contemporary artists, curators and cultural figures.Come see their discoveries revealed for the very first time - at London’s only public space for art by the untrained, unintentional and unseen creators of this, our modern world.

Hammer Horror Festival

The Hammer Horror Festival is a chance to celebrate the well known Hammer horror films with an exhibition, film screenings, ghost tours and readings organised by the Idea Generation Gallery. Hammer Film Productions first made a name for themselves in the mid-1950s with low budget, high drama horror films that soon became cult classics. 'Hammer' still stands for 'horror' today. The exhibition includes never-seen-before artwork from the archives, rare and original posters and behind the scenes photos as well as artwork for upcoming films. Various events staged by the gallery in and around Shoreditch include film screenings, a Hammer Vampire Hunt - with the clues taking you to some scary places - and ghost stories with readings in the gallery by some famous faces. In addition, two well known contributors have been lined up to talk about Hammer: Marcus Hearn, historian and writer of the Titan book The Hammer Story; and Jimmy Stangster, writer and producer of some of Hammer's famous films including Dracula. Guaranteed to send a shiver down your spine.

28th October 2009 until 15th November 2009
Address: Idea Generation Gallery, 11 Chance Street, Shoreditch, E2 7JB
